Going out for even one slow jog a week is enough to cut your chances of dying early significantly, a study has found.
Runners who turn out more often, and who run faster in longer sessions, do not reduce their risk any more than those who hit the road gently once a week.
Those who run once a week at most, never go out for more than 50 minutes and never top 6mph — a brisk jog — have a 27 per cent reduction in their chances of dying early from any condition when compared with “sedentary non-runners”.
