14+ Minivan Camper Conversions to Inspire Your Next Adventure by Gary Michaels

There are many reasons you may decide to choose a minivan camper conversion over a regular RV.

Not only could you save a lot of money on the upfront purchase of a minivan, but you’ll also save money because of the better fuel efficiency.

Add to that the superior maneuverability, a minivan can fit in any regular parking space, and you’re less likely to run into trouble when parked in areas where camping is not allowed.

A minivan can blend in with its surroundings and nobody expects that there are people camping in it. Stealth camping can give you a lot more freedom.

If you’re considering converting your minivan or buying one to convert, check out the examples below to give you inspiration for your own conversion.

Honda Odyssey Minivan Conversion

The owner bought a 2003 Honda Odyssey for only $2900, ripped out everything from the front seats back, and started from scratch. With the help of friends and YouTube, they installed LED lighting that runs off a second battery system, and used sound deadening material to cover the rear metal.

They also insulated the van with Reflectix, denim-style insulation, and foam board, and installed a Renogy 100 watt solar panel on the roof rack. After hours of cutting and trimming, they crafted a flat surface for the floor, and stained it a dark color. Even though the stain was stressful, it turned out great!
